The layouts between our inside cabin and the extended balcony stateroom were totally different; however, the decor, color schemes and carpet were identical. My coworker's cabin had extra space that did allow for the addition of framed artwork above the sofa, appropriately featuring dolphins swimming. Both staterooms could technically accommodate 4 people, although the extended balcony stateroom felt much more spacious for a family. The newest cruise ships are built with more stateroom choices than ever before. From inside cabins to solo accommodations and luxurious suites, there's a cabin onboard to accommodate a wide range of travel needs and budgets. The typical Carnival balcony cabin has a contemporary look, with clean lines and relatively minimalist furniture.

There are no tickets needed and no jockeying for seats with your shipmates. Either way, I find that I don't spend much time in my cabin when I am cruising, especially on a brand-new ship! Unless I am in a luxurious suite, most of my time is spent exploring the cruise ship or adventuring in the ports of call. Having a comfortable place to sleep and shower is most important, and every cabin onboard a cruise ship will provide that. Our shower's door was made of a plastic-like material and maneuvered inward to save space; however, the extended balcony stateroom had a glass door and opened outward. Either way, the shower was thoughtfully designed and it did not go unnoticed.

They’re usually slightly larger than an oceanview cabin and have the extra balcony floorspace too. If you are going to be spending most of your time exploring the cruise ship and port, then you might not find the value of a balcony stateroom. You do not want to spend extra for a balcony if you do not think you will have the time to use it and get your investment’s worth. The cabin itself measures at 185 square feet, while the balcony is an additional 40 to 44 square feet, depending on the specific ship. On each balcony, guests can find a small table and two chairs for lounging. On the extended balcony it is about 1.5 times the depth of a standard balcony.

Carnival often offers balcony room upgrades at a discounted price, which can be a great way to experience the luxury of a balcony room without breaking the bank. When looking for ways to save money on my Carnival cruise, I always make sure to check out the latest deals and promotions available. Carnival offers a variety of promotions throughout the year, including early booking discounts, onboard credit, free upgrades, and reduced deposits. It’s important to keep an eye out for these promotions and take advantage of them when they’re available. I hope that reading this post has helped you to understand what you are getting if you book a cove balcony on a Carnival cruise. It is worth noting that the actual cabins for cove balcony rooms and regular balcony rooms are the same, so there is no need to factor that into your decision.
What is the maximum number of guests allowed in a balcony room on Carnival cruises?
Onboard every Carnival ship, you will find interior, ocean view, and balcony rooms, as well as suites for those looking to splurge and receive a couple extra perks. Each category has their own set of pros and cons, meaning that you'll have to weigh your options to determine what works best for you and your travel party. An obstructed view is where part of your view is blocked by the lifeboats on the ship. With Carnival, there aren’t many obstructed balcony staterooms – most obstructed views are in rooms with a window. Carnival’s themed staterooms, including the Havana balconies, Family Harbor balconies, and Cloud 9 Spa balconies, are all unique to the cruise line. If you are looking to spice up your cruise experience compared to a standard balcony, these might be a consideration.
CLOUD 9 SPA SUITE
Cruise ship showers have been notoriously small for years with capsule-shaped shower tubes and sometimes clingy curtains. Before, there was barely enough space to bend over if you needed to shave your legs or you dropped something. One of our inside cabin's biggest surprise was the bathroom; more particularly, we loved the surprisingly spacious and practical shower. Comparatively, our inside cabin's bunk beds folded out from the wall, meaning the two bunk beds were always taking up space even if not actively being used. The brand-new cruise ship from Carnival Cruise Line was stylish, chic and trendy. As someone who’s sailed on Carnival a few times, I was blown away by how modern Carnival Celebration was.
Ocean view cabins
With so much to do on board, I know I won’t have a dull moment during my Carnival cruise. I can’t wait to experience all the onboard entertainment and activities that Carnival has to offer. However, balcony rooms can be more expensive and may not be worth it if you don’t plan on spending much time in your room.
Can you upgrade from an ocean view room to a balcony room once onboard the ship?
Carnival Celebration, which just debuted in November 2022, is the cruise line’s newest ship. We booked one of Carnival Celebrations inaugural sailings from North America, sailing from Miami to the Caribbean over the course of a 7-night itinerary. When you choose to apply (and are approved) for a new credit card through our site, we may receive compensation from our partners, and this may impact how or where these products appear. STATEROOMS GOT YOU FEELING ALL COMFY?
For this reason, you should probably avoid cove balconies on cruises during hurricane season. If you are looking for a cosy, private space then you are likely to enjoy having a cove balcony. The close views of the sea are also generally enjoyed by most people that have stayed in a room with a cove balcony but there may be times when it is too wet and windy to be used. A cove balcony on a Carnival cruise ship is more enclosed than a standard balcony. The sides and bottom half of the balcony rail are made from a solid steel panel and it has a smaller opening than a normal balcony.
As it’s only for Havana guests, it can provide a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the main pool. These benefits only apply to the first two adult guests in a Cloud 9 Spa Balcony room though, so if you’re sharing with more guests they won’t get the same offers. A Premium Balcony stateroom (9A, 9B and 9C) is a larger version of a standard Balcony stateroom. Both the inside of the room and the balcony are larger, unlike an Extended Balcony room where just the balcony is bigger. So, if you’re someone who isn’t too fussed for a full view but likes the idea of sitting outside still, then they could be perfect. Only Carnival Spirit, Carnival Legend and Carnival Miracle have obstructed view Balcony rooms.
Growing up, she had the privilege of traveling frequently with her family and fell in love with cruising after sailing on the Oasis of the Seas her freshman year of high school. She wanted to pursue a career that highlighted her passion for travel and strengths as a writer. Interior cabins on Carnival Cruise Line are some of the smallest rooms onboard and lack natural light since they do not have any windows. Before you are ready to place the deposit on your Carnival cruise, you will have to choose what cabin category you’d like to stay in for the duration of your voyage. She has worked in the cruise industry since 2015 and has taken over 30 cruises.
But the ratio of balcony cabins to non-balcony cabins on Carnival's newer ships isn't nearly as high as on the newer ships of some rival lines such as Royal Caribbean. Patios for these cabins include a private space along with two chairs and a table. Inside, guests can expect twin beds that can be combined into a king bed. The cabins also feature a dedicated sitting area with a tv and desk/ vanity. There is a closet with drawers/ compartments as well as a safe for valuables. As with all cabins, rooms have a small mini fridge, climate control, and bathrobes upon request.
These are category 7A for the standard Obstructed Balconies and 9A for the Premium Obstructed Balconies. A Balcony stateroom with Carnival generally costs somewhere between $50 and $300 more than an Ocean View room does, but it depends on the class of balcony and the length of cruise. A typical seven-night Caribbean cruise costs $909 per person for a Balcony, compared to $799 for an Ocean View room with a window.
And staterooms aboard Mardi Gras are packed with innovative changes to both. It’s the way the ring-lit vanity mirror lights you evenly and shadow-free as you get ready. And even those reading lights, recessed into the wall so you can read in bed without waking anyone! (Enough USB charging ports for everybody’s stuff? Oh yes!) Thoughtful, guest-centric design is how we do it… and all this in-room convenience comes paired with a fresh new look.
An obstructed view balcony room might have a lifeboat or some other ship equipment blocking a portion of the view. If you have health or mobility challenges, Carnival proudly welcomes you on board. You’ll find plenty of accessible staterooms from which to choose, whether you are traveling with a wheelchair, scooter or another device. Consider staying in the midship section where you’ll find extra elevators. Shore excursions with no minimum age limits let you customize experiences for the entire family to enjoy, such as cruising to Alaska and going on a Dog Sled Discovery and Mushing Camp adventure.
Most of the time, you will have a lifeboat directly below your stateroom, which would partially block your view. Generally speaking, Carnival does not have an abundance of obstructed view balconies, but you will save some money by booking one of these balcony variations. In comparison to a standard balcony, a Cove Balcony is more enclosed and located on lower decks. Cove balconies have cove-like enclosures with the bottom half of the balcony tail having a solid steel panel.
